FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager 3.3.9 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of a major update to our open source FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager today.  The 3.3.9 release not only has some great new features but also introduces some core infrastructure changes to provide greater flexibility and control for developers using the platform.  Many members of our growing development community have offered up their input for this release, so many thanks to you all for your feedback.

Key features include:

  • JavaScript scripting engine: that supports REST protocol
  • User customisable metadata: admin user controls to add, edit and order metadata fields on system interfaces
  • User customisable field types and advanced search: admin controls to select field types for metadata filters and nominate which filters are available on advanced search interfaces
  • New preview plug-ins: developers can add any media playback technology, even bespoke players, with editable mark-up for asset previews and new plug-in manager
  • Enhanced email format settings: admin user controls to enable/disable required email registration formats
  • Batch re-cataloguing: admin controls to quickly and easily re-catalogue multiple assets
  • Batch permissions updating: admin controls to quickly and easily update permissions for multiple assets
  • Batch re-processing: admin controls to quickly and easily re-process multiple assets
  • Custom bitmap creation: admin controls to generate multiple bitmaps for additional thumbnails or custom viewers at any dimensions required

Deployment and source packages for both the Open Source (AGPL) and Commercial editions are available to download now by registering at the FocusOPEN product site: http://www.digitalassetmanager.com. Existing users can upgrade by downloading the latest deployment package and following the upgrade instructions in this wiki article.
